I have an application where I need to be able to “query” the physical interfaces on the Topaz switch from within Linux. We want to see the Bits/second transmit/receive on a port where the traffic is neither destined nor sourced from the switch.

Basically, we want to place the espressobin in-line between a DSL Modem and a Router and see the amount of traffic passing through the switch and to the Customer router.

Any ideas on how to do this? Interface counters don’t increment in Linux when the ports are bridged (for obvious reasons). Is there a way to query the Topaz in-band from within Linux? The specs show in-band management of the switch, but there really isn’t any details on how to access the info.

    Thanks in advance. Much appreciated!

Did you ever have any luck figuring this out? I’m trying something similar and having the same issue as you. Thanks!
