FYI: Armbian in Ubuntu flavour already running on ESPRESSOBin with legacy kernel: https://forum.armbian.com/index.php?/topic/4089-espressobin-support-development-efforts/
I also built an preliminary OpenMediaVault image (based on Debian Jessie but completely untested): http://kaiser-edv.de/tmp/NumpU8/

A stable and ready to use Ubuntu xenial image for EspressoBin is available through the Armbian forum.
Would you believe that Armbian developers are doing all this essentially without any support from Globalscale / Marvell ?
Congrats, this looks promising !
