I’m running Debian and I want to use serial communication on the serial ports, /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyS3 (for modbusRTU).

    ~$ sudo setserial -g /dev/ttyS[0123]
    /dev/ttyS0, UART: unknown, Port: 0x0000, IRQ: 0
    /dev/ttyS1, UART: unknown, Port: 0x0000, IRQ: 0
    /dev/ttyS2, UART: unknown, Port: 0x0000, IRQ: 0
    /dev/ttyS3, UART: unknown, Port: 0x0000, IRQ: 0

    ~$ dmesg | egrep -i ‘serial|ttys|uart’

[ 3.100223] Serial: 8250/16550 driver, 4 ports, IRQ sharing disabled

I guess the problem is that the serial ports don’t have any IRQs.

Do anyone know how to enable IRQs for the serial ports?
