Does anyone have a recommendation for which AC wifi card will work well with the Espressobin/linux/openwrt as an access point?

    HI Cuddlepuncher,

the 8997 Wi-Fi card is rated for AC and can work in AP and Client mode.

Having a look to the link you provided it appears like the card is not available yet. Is there any real estimation for the shipping date? Will it have a working driver the moment it is shipped?

OTOH… Is this the only card that will work when it is available? I just made a quick search and it looks like people are having a hard time getting their old mPCIe cards to work.
