Thanks. Well I tried Armbian and so far so good. It basically gives docker out of the box. Thanks for the suggestion.

Ok, I rebuilt the kernel following the instructions here:

    and enabled overlay via

and check config says, overlay is setup. But now I’m getting cgroup errors when the daemon starts.

I see there is a lot of red (missing) kernel features. This is going to take some work. And this is my first time building the kernel.

I am talking about the espressobin provided image here:

I would rather not run an experimental debian until its fully tested, but maybe I can give it a go. That being said, maybe I’ll try the Arch image and see if its more docker ready then ubuntu now.

For the record, this is the problem I’m having with the espressobin provided ubuntu image.

    When I run

I see the important parts being:
    – “devicemapper”:
    – “overlay”:
    – CONFIG_OVERLAY_FS: missing

I’m getting 403s when posting to this forum right now

I have been trying to get docker running in the ubuntu 16 image. First I had problems with the default failback device mapper storage driver. Now I’m trying to get overlay2 to work, but I might need to recompile the kernel. Starting to stretch my knowledge here.

Cant wait for this because I’m having no luck getting docker working on the ubuntu 16 build.
