    I think to find your UUID of the correct partition, use

    usb part 0

    after you run

    This is great info. Have you tried to upgrade the u-boot? If so, can you boot via EFI? I have not been able to boot EFI with the factory u-boot installed.

    I think all I did was copy onto a USB thumb drive and then execute these commands at the u-boot prompt. I may have had to rename something but I don’t recall.

    When I plug an 1Gbps fiber transceiver into the SFP slot, it shows up as eth2 and it disables the WAN eth2 port. I can’t find any way to access eth1.

    That’s what I expected.

    Are you referring to eth2? I don’t have any of those to try.
    If you install a transceiver in the SFP, does it disable the WAN POE port like on OpenWRT?

    Great to hear. I’m assuming you did this without EFI? I tried the latest Debian installer which has EFI and I couldn’t boot it.

    So far we have Arch Linux, OpenWRT, and the default Ubuntu 18.04 LTS working.

    One more observation:

    In OpenWRT, the SFP fiber port can operate by itself as eth2 over fiber as expected.
    In Ubuntu shipped on the mmc, the SFP port isn’t working. It thinks it’s copper, not fiber.
    Trying to set it to fibre, doesn’t work: ethtool -s eth2 port fibre

    I was wrong above.

    1. eth0 is the SFP+ and is on the outside of the board. It takes SFP or SFP+ modules. Both seem to work.
    2. eth2 can either be the SFP to the right of the POE power supply or the copper RJ-45 to the left of the POE power supply (WAN port). If an SFP transceiver is plugged in (whether or not a fiber is plugged in), the RJ-45 seems to be disabled even if it has a cable plugged in.
    3. The default configuration in Ubuntu and OpenWRT bond eth0 and eth2 making both fiber ports and one WAN port all be the same logical connection.

    OpenWRT booted ok now.

    I changed above to:

    I couldn’t get any EFI boot loader I’ve tried so far to work. Always the same crash.

    I did get OpenWRT image to boot off of USB up until it didn’t like init. Not sure why but it’s really close to working.

    I used the ext4 image here and issued these commands:

    I just inserted a Samsung 860 EVO SATA SSD into the M.2 slot and it seems to be working fine.

    Performance is 73.7 MB/s for the SSD vs. 20.1 MB/s for the internal MMC.

    What image are you trying to boot via USB and what commands are you using from the U-Boot Marvell>> prompt? I will see if I can reproduce.

    Since they have distributed the board with U-Boot 2018.03, which is very old, there are probably lots of problems that can be fixed with a newer U-Boot. I don’t know why they didn’t release it with the latest version. I suspect EFI booting is broken because of this.
