MiniPCIe slot full specs

Hi,

I don’t understand what is, really, a “MiniPCIe slot for Wireless/BLE periphereals”.
So, can you give MiniPCIe full specs ?
In fact, I want to know if it is possible to plug a mini-pcie ssd on this slot.

The PCIe slot on Espressobin is for WIFI and BT usage only. It doesn’t support mSATA.

There are, also, some mini pci express ssd no msata (but with built-in sata bus).
For example, it is the case for all asus eeepc ssd :http://www.ebay.com/bhp/eee-pc-ssd
But, these ssd are not very fast.

And it, also, exists in 64 and 128GB.
The Espressobin provides a mini pci express 1x interface, but I don’t know the revision (1.0, 2.0, … )
So, can something prevent these ssd to work with the Espressobin, except for a problem with the disk linux driver(if not ahci) ?

And even if I can find other pure mini pci express sdd, they are old and slow…

Mini pcie to pcie x1 riser cards also exist; I wonder if we could use a better wifi card that way.

Such as the ASUS PCE-AC88 4×4 Wireless AC3100. Seems like that would allow for it to be a nighthawk grade router with much more flexible firmware, for less money.

A pcie x1 card is a little big for me.

But, this solution starting to get complicated. I am not sure the espressobin to be as adaptable as a PC.

I am very interested to see what chip they decide to include with the retail units, as I am having trouble finding any decent wifi cards that have wireless AC, dual band, bluetooth 4.?, decent linux drivers, and mini pcie, not M.2

I dont know if the intel 7xxx or 8xxx series AC wifi chips have good linux drivers, but they look really good for the price, though they only come in M.2 🙁

They have been very cagey about info on the chip so far, so far as to not even say what chipset maker they plan on going with (atheros, broadcom, etc.)

But fortunately we can add 2 or 4 port SATA mPCIe cards to get 3 or even 5 SATA ports in total 🙂
